The University of Melbourne has a number of Residential Colleges and Halls located around the University, an easy tram ride through the city to the VCA.
Very few VCA students stay in Colleges and Halls, but they are excellent for country or interstate students who need some extra support as they make the transition into student life. VCA students are eligible to apply to all Melbourne University’s Residential Colleges and Halls.
There are many advantages associated with living in a Residential College including an established and welcoming community, the convenience of having breakfast and dinner provided, a sense of security with residential tutors living in, and last but not least, social, sporting and cultural activities organised by the College for its tenants.
The major disadvantage is the cost. Prices start at around $300 per week. This includes most meals. Check with individual colleges for fees and benefits included.
General information on Residential Colleges and Halls and a list of individual web sites is found through the housing website at Melbourne University.
