Alex Pertout is one of Australia's leading percussionists and with credits on over 150 albums is undeniably one of Australia's most recorded musicians. He has also attained numerous credits on soundtracks, jingles, with television and theatre orchestras, as a musical director, as a record producer and engineer, and in countless live performances.

Alex has established himself as a respected educator and is currently Head of the Improvisation Department at the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne.

He has toured Europe and Asia with the Australian Art Orchestra, has performed as a soloist with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, has recording, performance and television orchestra credits with artists such as Powderfinger, Badi Assad, Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt, James Morrison, Casiopea, Chaka Khan, Tony Gould, Christine Sullivan, Little River Band (with John Farnham), Hunters & Collectors, Daryl Braithwaite, Brian Brown, Tina Arena and Archie Roach among many others.

Alex has produced CDs as a multi-instrumentalist and composer, a book on sight reading rhythm released worldwide by distinguished US publishers Mel Bay, directs "Alex Pertout & Friends" and is endorsed internationally by Meinl percussion, Sabian cymbals and Vater sticks. His latest release From The Heart featuring Mike Stern, Tom Coster, Christine Sullivan, Kavisha Mazzella, Hossam Ramzy, Paul Grabowsky, Tommy Emmanuel, Raul Rekow and Mark Levine among many others is out now through Vorticity Music.
