Dr Barry Laing is a freelance director, performer, and teacher based in Melbourne with a wide and eclectic range of experience in many new performance contexts, including dance and visual arts. He has worked and trained extensively in Europe and Australia since 1989 with Philippe Gaulier, Monika Pagneux, Theatre de Complicite, Pantheatre, Al Wunder and Anzu Furukawa.
Since 1995, Barry has taught and devised courses at the Victorian College of the Arts, Victoria University of Technology, and with aboriginal children in the Northern Territory. He has also conducted a series of independent performance workshops at the Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts, WA, Cecil Street Studio and Dancehouse, Melbourne.
