Mark Elliott is currently completing a PhD at the Centre for Ideas, researching and developing theories, systems and methods for large-scale, computer mediated collaboration. He recently designed the online collaborative network for Collaboration Contract and is one of the project creators for the Australian Bill of Rights Initiative and metacollab.net.
Mark has presented papers on large-scale collaboration at international conferences and has acted as a moderator in UNESCO's global art education program, Young Digital Creators. Prior to the commencing his PhD, Mark completed a Master of Music in composition at the University of Melbourne's Conservatorium and has recently been awarded an Arts Victoria grant for the performance of an orchestral concerto.
Mark also performs and tours in an array of capacities ranging from computer improvisation with the acclaimed Chinese mouth organist, Wang-Zheng Ting, to plotting and carrying out acts of uncompromising performance art with the group, 'The Problem We Can't Face'.
In order to supplement his income, karma and self-development, he teaches a wide variety of subjects at the Centre for Ideas, the University of Melbourne's Conservatorium and Sophia Mundi—an inner city K-12 Steiner school.
