Paul has been creatively involved for the last 20 years in experimental music and short film/media projects.He has made over 20 short animated and experimental films that have been screened locally and internationally. Between 1980 and 1989 Paul was a drummer and occasional Clarinet wrangler in a performing and recordingexperimental music group called "Essendon Airport". During this time he also produced many limited editionscreenprint posters, greeting cards and LP record covers . Paul's short films have been exhibited locally (State Film Centres, St Kilda and ATOM film festivals) as well asInternational Festivals such as Prix Leonardo(Parma Italy), Jazz Bit Sweden, Okomedia,Freiburg Germany.During the mid 1990's Paul worked on art and education interactive cd-roms incorporating text, video and animation.In 2003 Paul produced "A tale of two schools" a collection of animation and video made with two small rural primary schools, much of this material is in ACMI's public library.In 2004 Paul contributed the sound design and music for Robert Stephenson's AFI nominated short "Lucky for some." Paul is currently a Lecturer in the Animation Department of the VCA School of Film & Television, and is also working collaboratively with multi-discipline central victoria art collective Punctum, and experimental music andfilm collective , Undue Noise. Paul's Masters by Research project at VCA School of Film & Television includes his individual film and liveperformance projects. This work involves an exploration of the intersection of abstraction and narrative film formsin animation and the invention of custom built audiovisual instruments using customised software , hardware and discarded technology.His film "Lake Qualm" won Best Short Experimental Australian Film at Darwin International Film Festival 2005. "Shed Film", was screened at St Kilda Short Film Festival 2006 and is currently included in Microcinema'sIndependent Exposure International Touring Program. Research and Examples of work online :
