Dr Caroline Miley

Caroline Miley studied law and art history at the University of Melbourne and completed her Dip. Ed. at Hawthorn and her Ph.D in art history at Latrobe University. She has published in Australian art, design and craft journals and exhibition catalogues and has convened sessions of and given papers at conferences of art history, architecture and historical associations. In 1987 she curated a major exhibition of Tasmanian Arts and Crafts work for the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery in Launceston, and in 1997 published an appreciation of Trinity College Chapel for the University of Melbourne. Her thesis was published by St Lawrence Press in 2001. She received a grant from the Australia Council for her research into Arts and Crafts in Australia. Her current research is into the artist Christian Waller. Dr Miley is an Associate of the Art History Department of Latrobe and has a private consultancy in heritage buildings. She has been teaching in tertiary institutes since 1983 and is at present a lecturer in Art History in the School of Art at the Victorian College of the Arts, and Curator of the College Art Collection.
