Elizabeth Gower has been exhibiting since 1976 and has had over 30 one-person exhibitions throughout Australia and overseas. She is currently represented by Sutton Gallery in Melbourne and Bellas Milani in Brisbane. Her qualifications include Diploma of Art and Design, 1973, Diploma of Education, 1974, Master of Arts, 1995.
She has participated in many major group exhibitions including the Sydney Biennale Art Gallery of NSW 1978, Australian Perspecta Art Gallery of NSW 1981 and 1985, Isolaustralia at Gallery Lillo, Italy 1984, Backlash, Australian Drawing Revival, National Gallery of Victoria 1987, Moet & Chandon touring exhibition 1988, Embracing Space, Art Gallery of Western Australia 1991, Inherited Absolute, ACCA 1992, Reference Points Art Gallery of Queensland 1994, Gramacy Art Fair, New York 1997, Australian Perspecta MCA, Sydney 1998, Clemenger Art Award, Heide Museum of Modern Art, 1999, ARCO Contemporary Art Fair, Madrid 2002, and the inaugural exhibition Fieldwork, Ian Potter Centre, NGV: Australia 2003.
Elizabeth Gower has been the recipient of numerous awards and prizes including 3 Australia Council grants, Victorian Ministry for the Arts and NETS Victoria grants to tour exhibitions, Alliance Francasie Art Fellowship and residencies at Cite Internationale des Arts in Paris, Paretaio Studio in Italy and the Barcelona Studio.
Elizabeth Gower has also been commissioned to make artworks for Victorian Ministry for the Arts painted tram project, Melbourne World Trade Centre, MCG Great Southern Stand, Southgate, Panorama Apartments and Sydney Olympics Superdome.
She is represented in most state collections such as Art Gallery of New South Wales, Art Gallery of South Australia, National Gallery of Victoria, Australian National Gallery, Queensland Art Gallery as well as Tasmanian, Queensland and Monash collections.
