Tony Smith

Tony Smith trained and worked as an actor in Brisbane. Since graduating from the NIDA Voice Studies course in 1993, Tony has studied in Canada at the Canada National Voice Intensive, a five-week residential voice and movement intensive at Simon Fraser University BC. He has also studied with Andrew Wade, Head of Voice, for The Royal Shakespeare Theatre Company, United Kingdom and Linda Wise, Co Artistic Director, Pan Theatre Company, France. He is currently completing his Masters in Drama and Theatre Studies at Monash University. His current areas of research include speech rhythms as an element in the transformation of the actor and the performance of the male body in space.

Tony has previously lectured in Voice and Acting at The Centre of Performing Arts in Adelaide, The John Bolton Theatre School in Melbourne, Victorian University of Technology, The Ballarat Academy of Performing Arts, the Indigenous Performing Arts Program at Swinburne University of Technology, Monash University and the Melbourne Theatre Company's Summer School for young professional actors. Tony also has a private practice working with actors, teachers, lawyers and other professional voice users. He is also the Non-Awards Course Coordinator at the School of Drama.
