Kevin Brennan

Community Cultural Development

Since 1984 (a propitious year!) Kevin has worked with a large range of community organisations and events to devise community cultural interventions. He has worked in the environment movement, in youth arts, with disabilities projects, social change and social justice movements.

Kevin has held the positions of Artistic Coordinator of La Luna Youth Arts (1990-1994), Company Manager of Melbourne Workers Theatre (1995-1999) and Programming Coordinator for the Art of Dissent Conference for Adelaide and Melbourne Festivals (2002). Kevin has also served on numerous local and state government committees and advisory bodies. He works freelance with his company, United Notions, offering a range of strategic services to arts organisations and local government, particularly in the area of community cultural development. He works hands-on in advisory capacity for arts and cultural policy and lobbying, and in arts management.

Kevin developed, and is also the sessional lecturer for, the Cultural Policy Paradigms and Praxis modules for the Postgraduate program of the Community Cultural Development Course.

  • Deputy Chair of National Alliance for Culture & Arts (Australia’s new advocacy body for the Creative Communities sector)
