Neil Malone
Coordinator and Senior Lecturer, Printmaking
Currently a lecturer in printmaking Faculty of the VCA and MCM University of Melbourne. Former Head of Printmaking School of Art, Faculty of VCA 2012 University of Melbourne.
Neil Malone studied at RMIT completing undergraduate studies with a Fellowship of both Painting and Printmaking 1972, 1974 and Master of Fine Art in 1998. Neil Malone has been lecturing in various Melbourne art colleges since 1973 and has been Head of Printmaking at the Faculty of VCA and Music since 2002. Neil Malone was a formative member of the Crossley Print workshop established in 1972 by George Baldessin and Tate Adams and has been a printer for many notable Australian Artists including George Baldessin, Roger Kemp and John Olsen among others from 1972 till 1980. Other professional activities include a period as assistant curator of Monash University Art Gallery and collection.
Neil Malone exhibits regularly using many mediums and approaches most recently at Jenny Port Gallery in Melbourne in 2007 and Youkobo Art Space in Tokyo in 2008 where digital prints were shown. He is currently working on Painting and Printmaking projects and is actively establishing links with Tokyo Geijutsu Daigaku and the Japanese Printmaking community.
His work is represented in a number of collections both in Australia and internationally and over the last 7 years he has been invited to participate in a number of International Printmaking and Digital Printmaking exhibitions and residencies in the Asian Region.
