Richard Pratt Bursaries

For Outstanding Acting Students In Their Second Year of Training (DRAMA)

The Richard Pratt Bursary Fund was created to celcebrate the seventieth birthday of Mr. Richard Pratt, the philanthropist, businessman and long time supporter of the Victorian College of the Arts. Two Bursary awards which each cover one year of HECS fees and a cash amount each are offered annually.

Keith & Elisabeth Murdoch Travelling Fellowship

The Murdoch Fellowship of $20,000 is offered every two years in order to enable Drama Graduates to travel abroad. In September 2005 this award was given to Christian Leavesley and Phil Rolfe from Uncle Semolina (& friends). In 2007 this award was given to Mary Sitarenos.

Amount Variable - $20,000 in 2007
Eligibility VCA Drama Alumni who graduated between 1996 and 2006.

George Fairfax Memorial Award

Applications are now being accepted for 2008

The Fairfax Award of $20,000 is offered every two years in order to encourage a practising theatre artist to enhance their professional career in the theatre industry. In doing so they will reflect the spirit and vision of a man who worked tirelessly to ensure that this country would have a thriving theatrical future. Previous award recipients have been David Symons (2000), Chris Kohn (2002), Chris Bendall (2004) and Luke Mullins (2006).

VCA Drama alumni who graduated between 1997 and 2007 are eligible to apply in 2008.

Amount $20,000 - Biennial
Eligibility VCA Drama Graduates from past ten years & who are a practising theatre artist

Barbara Manning Scholarship for Postgraduate Study
(Offered annually) This scholarship is offered in commemoration of the career of Barbara Manning as a theatre practitioner, teacher and supporter of new Australian theatre work. It provides financial support towards meeting the cost of tertiary fees for the one-year course. Candidates will be assessed at the time of their interview for selection into the course. Terms and conditions of the Barbara Manning Scholarship are available from the VCA on request.

Amount $3,500 (total prize money)
