Discover the essential qualities of the actor: creativity, expression and communication. Develop the power of your presence and learn how to work physically with ease. Develop ensemble communication, spatial awareness, the skills of improvisation and working with text.

Focussing on the processes of working with and how to approach text with confidence. Working on scripted scenes, develop a step-by-step approach that includes script analysis, using text and language to generate character choices, physicality and status.
Acting 1 or some previous experience preferred.

Learn physical skills from a diverse range of movement disciplines. Discover and integrate ways to build character through the body and the way physical conversations can be woven into a narrative, character driven structure. Integrate the body, imagination and impulse and experience the physical rigor of performance.

Develop your natural screen presence. Using exercises and scripts you will learn about the techniques involved for acting in front of the camera while learning about industry expectations.

Liberate your voice and reunite it with your body. Learn to speak text with creativity and authenticity. Develop a physical awareness of sound in your body by being introduced to activities that will free your voice and develop your vocal resonance, range, stamina and clarity. Explore the relationship between breath and words, sound and meaning, rhythm and the other vocal clues given by the playwright.

Explore the relationship between character and dialogue and how this influences the development of rounded characters and realistic scenes. Build a dramatic character through the use of your emotions, imagination, and intelligence. Develop skills that will enable you to approach any text with confidence.

Learn how to prepare and perfect your screen testing technique. Work intensively in front of camera on a variety of scenes and acting exercises. Delve into the exciting world of accents. Develop an understanding of phonetics and discover how rhythm, character and sound placement play a part in the creation of an accent and character. Study standard accents from Britain and the USA and develop a methodical approach through selected handouts, texts and short scenes that you can then apply to any accent or dialect.

An advanced investigation into the actor’s process - reveal the interior world of the text and character. Approach text through impulse, improvisation, space and action. Learn to develop performance through active analysis leading to a believable, human presence for theatre, film or television.
Acting 2 or practical experience in film, TV or theatre required.

Develop your natural screen personality and refine your presenting skills. Using a variety of industry based interview formats; you will perfect the art of just ‘being’ in front of the camera. This course will also give you the opportunity to develop your presenting skills in both formal and informal settings and assist you to become accustomed to your image on screen.

Weekend intensives on how to best prepare audition monologues for all your drama school auditions. These workshops will assist you selecting and realising your Contemporary and Shakespeare monologues.
NB: Contemporary and Shakespeare are separate two-day courses. To do both, you need to enrol in both weekends.
Monologue - Shakespeare
Use the actor’s approach! Discover how best to prepare your Shakespearean audition piece. This workshop will give you simple ways to unlock the meaning of the text whilst revealing some of the devices Shakespeare uses to bring his characters to life.
