A beginner’s workshop for anyone who has ever dreamt of acting. Be introduced to the basic skills of an actor. Tap into the expressive powers of your voice, body, gestures, imagination, your emotions and senses. By the end, you will be ready to approach acting.

Discover the essential qualities of the actor: creativity, expression and communication. Develop the power of your presence and learn how to work physically with ease. Develop ensemble communication, spatial awareness, the skills of improvisation and working with text. 
Acting 1 & 2 can be done concurrently.

Focussing on the processes of working with and how to approach text with confidence. Working on scripted scenes, develop a step-by-step approach that includes script analysis, using text and language to generate character choices, physicality and status.
Acting 1 or some previous experience preferred.
Acting 1 & 2 can be done concurrently.

Learn physical skills from a diverse range of movement disciplines. Discover and integrate ways to build character through the body and the way physical conversations can be woven into a narrative, character driven structure. Integrate the body, imagination and impulse and experience the physical rigor of performance.

Develop your natural screen presence. Using exercises and scripts you will learn about the techniques involved for acting in front of the camera while learning about industry expectations.

Liberate your voice and reunite it with your body. Learn to speak text with creativity and authenticity. Develop a physical awareness of sound in your body by being introduced to activities that will free your voice and develop your vocal resonance, range, stamina and clarity. Explore the relationship between breath and words, sound and meaning, rhythm and the other vocal clues given by the playwright.

Explore the relationship between character and dialogue and how this influences the development of rounded characters and realistic scenes. Build a dramatic character through the use of your emotions, imagination, and intelligence. Develop skills that will enable you to approach any text with confidence.

Learn how to prepare and perfect your screen testing technique. Work intensively in front of camera on a variety of scenes and acting exercises. Be introduced to various audition situations you may encounter in the film and television industry. Acting to Camera - Intro or similar experience preferred

Delve into the exciting world of accents. Develop an understanding of phonetics and discover how rhythm, character and sound placement play a part in the creation of an accent and character. Study standard accents from Britain and the USA and develop a methodical approach through selected handouts, texts and short scenes that you can then apply to any accent or dialect.

Ideal if you want to devise your own work that culminates in a performance piece you have written and a character you have created! Designed to help you work through blockages and judgements that hold you back from accessing your individual creativity.

An advanced investigation into the actor’s process - reveal the interior world of the text and character. Approach text through impulse, improvisation, space and action. Learn to develop performance through active analysis leading to a believable, human presence for theatre, film or television. 
Acting 2 or practical experience in film, TV or theatre required.

Develop your natural screen personality and refine your presenting skills. Using a variety of industry based interview formats; you will perfect the art of just ‘being’ in front of the camera.  This course will also give you the opportunity to develop your presenting skills in both formal and informal settings and assist you to become accustomed to your image on screen.

Develop the skills for exciting voice over presentations and learn about industry requirements. Be introduced to a variety of formats including radio jingles, corporate reads, character voices, TV voice overs, documentary narration and book readings.

Soap Up - TV Acting
From Ramsay St to Summer Bay, enter the world of TV soap. Learn how to act on camera, create characters and how to cope with the fast pace of TV production. Have fun with scripts from some of our best-loved Aussie dramas. Take home a video of your best cliff-hanger performance.

VCE Unit 4: Solo Performance – the final touches!
Does your drama solo make the grade? Polish your performance and ensure your confidence. This three-day course will provide you with invaluable direction, feedback and insight from a VCE specialist so you can perform at your best.

Weekend intensives on how to best prepare audition monologues for all your drama school auditions. These workshops will assist you selecting and realising your Contemporary and Shakespeare monologues.

NB: Contemporary and Shakespeare are separate two-day courses. To do both, you need to enrol in both weekends.

Monologue - Shakespeare
Use the actor’s approach! Discover how best to prepare your Shakespearean audition piece. This workshop will give you simple ways to unlock the meaning of the text whilst revealing some of the devices Shakespeare uses to bring his characters to life.

Monologue - Contemporary
Learn how to trust your instincts! Explore the character's journey and investigate the monologue through script analysis, impulse work and the use of space and rhythm. Discover your strengths and learn how to shape your work for audition and performance.
