"Hell's Gates" dir. Johnathan Auf Der Heide (2007), prod. Maggie Miles (2007) won two Awards at the Melbourne International Film Festival recently. Melbourne Airport Emerging Australian Filmmaker ($5000 + airfare to an international festival) and Best Student Production ($3000).

"296 Smith Street" dir. John Evagora (2007), prod. George Tsadilas (2007) won two Awards at the Melbourne International Film Festival recently. Film Victoria Erwin Rado Award for Best Australian Short Film ($5000) and Australian Writer’s Guild Award for best short Screenplay ($1000).

"Paper City Architects" dir. Daniel Agdag (2006), has been nominated for an AFI Award in the Short Animation Category. 1 of only 4 films in this category. Daniel Agdag did a Graduate Diploma in Animation @ VCA in 2006 and returned to do his Masters by Coursework Animation in 2007.

"The Postman" dir. Adam Bostock (2006), prod Donna Molan (2006) was recently selected as a Best of the Fest short film by audience vote at the 2007 Palm Springs International Festival of Short Films. This places the film in the top 30 (top 11 in the live action category) out of the over 330 films shown at the festival.

Adam Arkapaw (2006) won Best Cinematographer at The Jackson Hole Film Festival 2006 for “End of Town” dir. Julius Avery (2005) prod. Simon Myers (2005).

"Breathe" dir. Juliet Porter (2005), prod. Kylie Bryant (2005) recently won the Best Student Live Action Under 15 Minutes category at the 2006 Palm Springs International Festival.

 

David Norris (2007) has won the Australia national first prize of the 2007 Kodak Filmschool competition for his cinematography on "Wax" dir. Virgine Tetoofa (2007)

2006 Palm Springs International Festival, Kodak Award for Best Student Cinematography was recently awarded to Adam Arkapaw (2006) for "The City Eats Its Weak" dir. Sasha Whitehouse, (2005), prod. Sacha Rodriguez (2005).

For the third year in a row a VCA production has been selected for screening at the Cannes International Film Festival. Writer/Director Dustin Feneley (2005) and Producer Kate Beverley (2005) will attend the Cinefondation screening of their production “Snow”.

“62 Sleeps” by Erin White (2004) received Best Short Fiction Dendy Award at the 2005 Sydney Film Festival and the Best Film Award at the Munich International Student Film Festival. Erin is currently making the Film Victoria funded short “Dugong”.

Adam Elliot - HARVIE KRUMPET

Adam Elliot graduated from the Graduate Diploma in Film & Television in 1996. His graduating Animation “Uncle” screened at more than 200 film festivals and Adam subsequently completed his trilogy with "Cousin" and "Brother". Adam won a 2003 Academy Award with his short animation “Harvey Krumpet”. Adam is currently developing his first feature length animated film.

Anthony Lucas - THE MYSTERIOUS ADVENTURES OF JASPER MORELLO

Anthony Lucas graduated from the Graduate Diploma in Film & Television in 1988. After leaving the film school he established his own production company and had a number of acclaimed short animations, before completion “The Mysterious Geographic Explorations of Jasper Morello” which received an Oscar nomination for Short animation in 2006. This film was written by VCA graduate Mark Shirrefs.

 

Robert Luketic - 21

Directed by Robert Luketic, 21 is inspired by the true story of some of the brightest young minds in the USA – and how they took Vegas for millions. Starring Jim Sturgess (Across the Universe) Kevin Spacey, Laurence Fisburne and Kate Bosworth, 21 is based on the best selling book BRINGING DOWN THE HOUSE. 21 opens at cinemas everywhere on 15 May 2008.

Robert Luketic

Robert Luketic graduated from the Bachelor of Film and Television in 1996. His student film "Titsiana Booberini" led to a contract with Miramax Films and the first feature as director was the highly acclaimed “Legally Blonde”. This was followed by “Win A Date with Tad Hamilton” and “Monster in Law”. Robert lives and works in Hollywood.
