Indigenous Art Specific Databases

All databases are accessed via Supersearch

To see the Subject Set for Indigenous Arts. Login to Supersearch,

Select Subject from the pull-down menu (it will say Resource Sets)

Select Performing + Visual Arts

Then select Indigenous Arts from the sub-categories box.

Select the database you want to search, or click on the check boxes to search several databases at once.


ATSIROM - Collection of databases on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander issues.

InfoKoori - an index to the Koori Mail. Coverage from 23 May 1991. Also is an index to bibliographic information from the magazines: Dawn(1952-1969), New Dawn (1970-1975), and Identity (1971-1982).

 

Multidisciplinary Databases

To search for databases not in the Art set, select Search for Databases and enter the title.

APAFT Australian Public Affairs - Full Text, provides internet access to the scanned images of journal articles from published material on the social sciences and humanities.

APAIS - Australian Public Affairs Information Service. Database provides links to articles from hundreds of leading Australasian journals.

ERIC - Education database. Full text access dependant upon contributor permission. Covers articles in Education including the arts.

Expanded Academic ASAP - indexes across all academic disciplines access to abstracts and some full text articles.

JSTOR - is an archive of scholarly journals covering a wide variety of disciplines. JSTOR does not include articles published in recent years, but may provide a link to them.

MLA International Bibliography - a classified listing and subject index of scholarly books and articles on modern languages, literature, folklore, and linguistics since 1926.

Project Muse - is an online resource which indexes a range of full-text scholarly journals. Subjects covered include the arts, humanities, and social sciences.

 

e-Journals

All e-journals are accessed via Supersearch. Login and select Find an e-journal. Enter the title you want to look at.

Newspapers

For a range of online Newspapers go to Supersearch. From the Subject menu select "News Resources".

Aborigine News - online newspaper with up to date news and articles from WN Network.

Koori Mail - Fortnightly national Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander newspaper.

Message Stick - Online information and news for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders from ABC Online.

 

Finding Theses

Login to Supersearch and select Theses from the Resources Sets for a full list of online databases  listing theses.

At the Lenton Parr Library
PhD and Masters theses are listed in the University of Melbourne Library catalogue.  For Honours theses enquire at Loans/Reserve Desk

Serials in Australian Libraries (SIAL) – (Access via Supersearch – select Find a database) Lists the locations of over 478,300 serials in Australian Libraries and can be searched to locate journals not held by The Victorian College of the Arts.
