International students who are currently studying the VCE or IB or other Year 12 program in Australia should apply through the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC). Effective for entry from first semester 2009, the minimum study score required by the University of Melbourne for students undertaking Units 3 and 4 English as a Second Language (ESL) in the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) has changed. From 2009 onwards, a minimum study score of at least 30 will be required for students completing VCE English (ESL).
The minimum English language entry requirement for other VCE English subjects (English, English Language or Literature) will continue to be a study score of at least 25. For courses which require a study score in VCE English (any) that is higher than 25 there will be no differentiation between ESL and the other VCE English subjects.
There will also be no change in the minimum English language requirements for those undertaking the International Baccalaureate.
In order to apply for a course at the Faculty of the VCA and Music (Southbank), international applicants are required to submit a University of Melbourne International Application Form with documentation and materials as requested in the form, and submit the relevant Supplementary Admissions Information Sheet (see below) with documentation and materials as requested in the sheet and then mail or hand deliver your application to:

Entry to all VCAM (Southbank) courses is on the basis of talent, assessed by audition, test and interview or a folio of artwork and possibly a video or telephone interview. Standard minimum requirements for each discipline and course are as linked.
All VCAM (Southbank) disciplines accept international applications at anytime up until 31 October for the following academic year, except Film & TV which accepts international applications at any time up until 2 October for the following academic year, and Community Cultural Development, whose courses commence in July and for which we ask to receive applications by 31 March of that year.
The Faculty encourages international applicants to submit their applications as early as possible to allow ample time for selection, offer and visa processes.

In some courses, applicants may qualify for credit based on work experience undertaken that is relevant to the course. Credit is not available for any final year subject nor for more than one-half of the work of a two-year full-time course. Applicants should apply for credit as part of the application and interview/audition process. To apply, please tick yes to Part D Credit for Previous Studies on your University of Melbourne Application for Admission form, fill out an Application for Credit Form available here and provide the documentation as requested on the Application for Credit form.
Note that credit is not available in higher degrees by research.
