Where and what is Music Facilities?

 

Music Facilities takes care of room and equipment bookings, instrument loans, general music building equipment and facilities maintenance at the Southbank Campus.

The Music Facilities office is located near the reception area (Room 201) of the VCAM Music building, off St Kilda Road.

Sound Research Studio

VCAM Music is equipped with a professional digital recording studio, located on level one (Room 115). Its main function is to fulfil curriculum obligations in the field of music technology.

The studio and/or studio personnel may also be booked to record recitals, demos or to produce professional recording product. The studio may only be operated by the designated studio staff members, or by approved non-VCAM audio professionals where previously arranged.

The studio is equipped with a Digidesign Pro Tools HD system, several recording rooms, and an impressive array of microphones and signal processors. The main recording room has a grand piano, a drum kit (cymbals must be supplied by the client), and various instrument amplifiers.

VCAM staff and enrolled students can avail themselves of this fantastic facility at the following reduced rates:

  • Currently enrolled students: $55 (incl.GST) per hour
  • Current staff or alumni: $66 (incl.GST) per hour
  • Non-VCA clients: $77 (incl.GST) per hour

All bookings must be a minimum of three hours. This includes a VCAM staff audio engineer and the full compliment of SRS equipment. Tape stock such as 1/4 " analog reels, DAT tapes, CD-R's DVD-R's etc are charged separately.

All projects must be fully paid for before any client can receive their finished product.
