Bedrocks 2008 Career Management Skills for Artists

The VCA Mentor Program was established in 1996 and was the first arts Mentorship program in Australia. We are comitted to helping VCA graduates bridge the gap from trained to working artists.

You've worked hard to develop your artistic talents, now it's time to enhance your professional skills and knowledge to successfully manage yourself as an artist in this world.

Bedrocks is a two day program run by the VCA combines seminars by renowned industry professionals, with practical skills workshops and forums. If you are an art school graduate in the visual or performing arts (including film and television) this course will help you to get smart, get working and get paid!

  • Thursday 21st 9am - 5pm
  • Friday 22nd 9am - 5pm

VENUE: Federation Hall. VCA

COST:

  • FREE FOR ALL 2007 VCA GRADUATES
  • $33 inc GST for all VCA alumni.
  • $55 for all others inc GST (excludes final session on day 2)

A seminar program featuring experienced industry professionals from organizations including Australia Council, Arts Victoria, Asialink, as well as the private sector, covering:

  • Marketing and promoting your event
  • What you can do with your arts training.
  • The media and how to use it

Day Two: YOUR CAREER

  • Tax and money matters
  • Arts Law
  • Setting yourself up as a small business
  • Creative Partnerships
  • Mentorship
  • Effective Grant Writing

As well as meeting representatives from various discipline-specific organisations.
