Study Abroad Program

Study Abroad at the Victorian College of the Arts is an exciting and challenging opportunity, enabling you to pursue your art form from a new perspective while experiencing a new culture and way of life. The Study Abroad program enables you to study at the Victorian College of the Arts for one or two semesters in an undergraduate (Bachelor degree) program. Subjects that can be studied in the VCA Discipline of Production are: stage management, lighting, sound, costume making/design OR set props making/design.

Entry Requirements
Applicants should be currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Production course or equivalent at home institution.
Applicants should submit a completed International Student Application form available from the International Office or the College website. (see link below)
Applicants should provide a curriculum vitae that should include a brief history of involvement in any performance activity (school plays, drama groups, music performance, etc).
Applicants should provide letter(s) of recommendation from teacher(s) and director(s).
Applicants should submit a listing of any production skills or theatrical skills, however limited, that the applicant feels they possess. This listing might include musical ability, drawing, acting, sewing or wood/metal work.
Applicants should submit a 500-word handwritten statement explaining why they wish to follow a career in production, short and long term career goals, and the applicant’s main production interests selected from the following: stage management, lighting, sound, costume, scenery, design.

Application Timetable
The academic year starts in early February and concludes in November.  The academic year is comprised of two semesters.  First semester operates from February to the end of June and second semester operates from mid-July to the end of November.
Study Abroad applications may take up to 8 weeks for the selection panel to determine your suitability for admission.

Audition and Application Procedures
All Study Abroad applications should be accompanied by a completed International Student Application Form with supporting certified academic transcripts and passport details, together with the relevant documentation as advised by the School in which you seek admission.
Applications should be directed to the International Office, VCA.
