VCA Research

Research at the Victorian College of the Arts is characterised by multi-disciplinary, collaborative, and rigorous intellectual engagement. We research through both ‘traditional’ and ‘experimental’ modes, with particular attention to creative research, fusing theory and praxis.

The VCA sustains strong and engaged research communities around visual art, performing arts (dance, production, and theatre), film and television, community cultural development and music. We are interested in the productive discussions and tensions that arise from multivalent approaches to researching in and through the arts.

If you are interested in the graduate research programs available, please visit the Future Students section for either Master of Fine Arts or PhD.  We encourage you to email vcamcm-research@unimelb.edu.au for assistance and advice in making your application.
