Opportunities for organisations, philanthropic trusts and individuals to support the Faculty are identified and managed through the Development & Public Affairs office.
In addition to donations of money, property or artwork, valuable support is provided to the Faculty from enthusiastic volunteers who offer their time and talent on committees or assisting with special programs or events.
Donations and bequests can be directed towards capital works, scholarships, special programs and student support initiatives.
I dreamed a voice, the voice became an image, the image sang eternal (ich hab’ kein scharfes Marlene Dietrich 1937)
Students’ creative dreams can become a reality with your financial support.

The Friends of The VCA Inc. was established in 1972 with the aim of highlighting the activities of the Victorian College of the Arts and creating opportunities for the students. 'The Friends' is a group of like-minded individuals who work to support the students of The University of Melbourne Faculty of the VCA and Music through fund-raising activities.
We have over 200 supporters in our membership list and we are always looking for new members; parents and friends of students are very welcome. Membership fees will rise in June but will still be under $30 for a full financial year.
Over the years The Friends of the VCA has raised well in excess of $100,000 and members can take pride in having helped so many students and gained their appreciation.
For our Encouragement Awards, given over six Disciplines, we have been most fortunate to have the support of Anthony Knight, Trustee of Beleura Estate and the Tallis Foundation. Other awards given are the Limelighters Association Inc. Award, the Trevor Nickolls Award, the Grace Durling Award and the Maree Parry Award.
The Committee is as follows:
Pattie Salter - President
Nancy Foote - Vice President
Judith Gibson - Vice President
Trevor Downs - Treasurer
Lyn Callaghan - Secretary
Diane Alley Paul Keogh
Frances Bond Maree Parry
Gwen Furrer Jennifer Stulner
Philip Kent
As you can see we are a small committee and dedicated to the principle of providing value to members in pursuing the goal of raising funds for student projects. Wherever possible, we provide the students themselves with the opportunity to showcase their talents in entertaining guests at some of our fund-raisers. Volunteers from all walks of life support Faculty activities and assist student endeavour. Our volunteers enjoy the vibrant atmosphere and dynamic environment of the Faculty and provide a significant contribution through organizing fundraising events, delivering scholarships and providing assistance at performances and exhibitions.

The George Fairfax Committee has raised significant funds to enable the presentation of an award which will assist a Faculty alumnus to continue his or her work in theatre.
Director David Symons, who graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts in 1993, was the winner of the first $20,000 George Fairfax Theatre Award in 2000. David has directed an extraordinary range of work (from Brecht to Shakespeare and a range of modern works) - something on which the award selection committee commented when choosing him.
Fundraising efforts for this award continue. Anyone wishing to contribute, please contact VCA Development & Public Affairs:
