Fundraising and Sponsorship

Opportunities for organisations, philanthropic trusts and individuals to support the College are identified and managed through the Development & Public Affairs office.
In addition to donations of money, property or artwork, valuable support is provided to the VCA from enthusiastic volunteers who offer their time and talent on committees or assisting with special programs or events.

Donations and bequests can be directed towards capital works, scholarships, special programs and student support initiatives.

Endowments and Bequests

I dreamed a voice, the voice became an image, the image sang eternal (ich hab’ kein scharfes Marlene Dietrich 1937)

Students’ creative dreams can become a reality with your financial support.

VCA Scholarships Endowment Fund
The VCA is committed to ensuring that all talented students – be they from a minority or disadvantaged background, or simply exceptional – can participate in the College’s unique arts training and education. The VCA Scholarships Endowment Fund relies on your generosity to support Australia’s finest emerging artists.

Bequest Program
A bequest to the Victorian College of the Arts is an investment in the cultural future of Australia. By including a gift to the VCA in your Will, you can support the work of the VCA and make a lasting impact. You may choose the School in which you wish your gift to be used: Art, Drama, Dance, Film and Television, Music, Production or The Centre for Ideas.

Taxation Considerations
A donation to the VCA may take a variety of forms, including:

  • A donation of money, property or artwork; or
  • A bequest of money, property or artwork

The Development & Public Affairs office can advise you about the tax deductibility of your donation.

Friends of the VCA

Volunteers from all walks of life support College activities and assist student endeavour at both a formal and informal level. Our volunteers enjoy the vibrant atmosphere and dynamic environment of the College and provide a significant contribution through organizing fundraising events, delivering scholarships and providing assistance at performances and exhibitions.

The Friends of the VCA is a group of like-minded individuals who work to support the Victorian College of the Arts. They meet regularly throughout the year and organise events, lectures and presentations that serve to highlight the activities of the College, and present opportunities for the advocacy of the institution and its product – the students. The Friends is an effective fundraising organization that provides direct financial support for current students and alumni and is an integral part of the life of the Victorian College of the Arts. The Friends membership list is impressive! Being a member is satisfying, enjoyable and thoroughly rewarding.

George Fairfax Theatre Award

The George Fairfax Committee has raised significant funds to enable the presentation of an award which will assist a VCA alumnus to continue his or her work in theatre.

Director David Symons, who graduated from the VCA in 1993, was the winner of the first $20,000 George Fairfax Theatre Award in 2000. David has directed an extraordinary range of work (from Brecht to Shakespeare and a range of modern works) - something on which the award selection committee commented when choosing him.

Fundraising efforts for this award continue. Anyone wishing to contribute, please contact VCA Development & Public Affairs:
